The PA Bankers Association exists to support the banking industry through advocacy at the state and federal levels, as well as education, resources, products and services developed and offered exclusively for our member banks. The association is the convener of bankers across the commonwealth and serves as the collective voice among all PA bankers to effect change and support their communities.
While many of our members take advantage of our offerings, we know that some have not yet realized the power of engagement with the association. That’s why, this year, Chair Randy Black is collaborating with PA Bankers to launch the “Chair’s Challenge.” Through the challenge, Randy is encouraging leaders at all member banks to increase their engagement with the association by getting involved in advocacy, attending and sending others to conferences and events, using educational programming, getting involved in committees, attending peer exchanges, taking advantage of free resources offered, and using products and services through the associations’ for-profit subsidiary.
For more than 20 years, Randy has made it a priority to support the association through various events, volunteer opportunities and the PA Bankers Services Corporation’s Select Vendor program. Throughout this time, Randy believes that the association has brought incredible value to his bank and his personal growth.
To encourage his peers to find the same value, Randy challenges all member banks to:
- Review PA Bankers’ educational offerings before creating a program or looking at other vendors;
- Meet with the association’s professional development team to discuss your bank’s educational needs;
- Send employees to PA Bankers’ conferences, schools or Leadership Institute;
- Look at the various committees to ensure that your bank is represented;
- Use PA Bankers’ resources around DEI and internships;
- Engage with peers at association events and dedicated peer exchanges;
- Ensure your bank is involved in the association’s advocacy at the state and federal levels;
- Invite local legislators into the bank to see first-hand how banks support their customers and communities; and
- Review the Services Corp.’s Select Vendors to save money on products and services your bank may use every day.
In recognition for their engagement, our member banks will earn “bankers bucks” as outlined below for events within the current fiscal year (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025). The bank can use the bankers bucks earned to purchase discounts on registration fees for PA Bankers’ events for the following fiscal year (starting July 1, 2025). The top two “bucks” earners in each deposit category will be recognized at the Executive Management Conference in September 2025.
